Smile for Life Gambia - Protecting the Sea Turtles

Our mission is to recover marine turtle populations through the use of scientifically-sound conservation measures and monitoring programs. And also through the development and implementation of training, education and public awareness tools and activities that encourage the support and active participation of stakeholders.

The Gambia coast (80 km) is situated in an area of the East Atlantic known to be a turtle migration / breeding and feeding area. The Gambia has 4 major marine species of turtle: leatherback; green, loggerhead and hawksbill which we protect.
