Malagen News

Malagen News is an investigative magazine published online and in print, run by a team of investigative journalists in The Gambia. The founder is a multiple-award winning Gambian journalist.

Malagen means the truth. The term is derived from Jola, one of the ethnic linguistic groupings in The Gambia. The name, which came out of a conscious decision to be distinct in a way that ensures Gambian authenticity, represents the object and mission of the magazine.

Malagen enjoys editorial independence – free from interference that are commercial, political or religious in nature. It focuses on investigations of wrong-doing such as public sector corruption, abuse of power and crimes. The magazine will rely on public donations for its sustenance – the people will support the media they trust.
