Gambia Chamber of Commerce & Industry - GCCI.

GCCI facilitates business development, promotes trade and advances the interests of Gambian Businesses. Founded in 1967, the GCCI is a nonprofit member driven organization that facilitates business development, promotes trade, and advances the interests of Gambia business nationally and regionally (or internationally). GCCI proves business development and trade inquiry service to companies with trade an investment interests in Gambia. It also provides opportunities for business people to be informed by and be exposed to the ideas of successful leaders. It is recognized as an authoritative voice for Gambian investment by the Government of the Gambia and regional and international bodies. We hold trade fair, events to enable networking and showcasing opportunities. Our members can broadcast their business doings and access one another through our member information bulletins, online business directory. The GCCI currently has over 700 member companies and is a member of the Federation of West African Employers Association (FWAEA/FOPAO) and Pan-African Chambers of Commerce and Industry (PACCI).

Governance
The governance structure of GCCI consists of the general Membership which elects a Board of Directors at the Annual General Meeting for a period of three years. The Board appoints the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who appoints the staff of the Secretariat.

The Services:

Business Advocacy
GCCI’s participation in the development process is portrayed through its inclusion in Trade Mission and Government visits abroad, National Boards and committees in issues of policy decisions and revisions. Other advocacy tools utilized are through Pre budget Consultations, in-country Government meetings and the organization of Business Summits which provide the forum for public private sector exchange at the highest level to review economic policies and issues and make recommendations for necessary revision.

Training
In helping business in The Gambia run optimally and profitably, GCCI provides a one-stop-shop for any type of advisory service on managing, building and maintaining a business. This includes apprentice and trainee management, employee relations, HR consultancy and assistance with importing and exporting, business migration services especially in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise and in organizations of any size and sector. We have participated in numerous training programs nationally and internationally. We often conduct training programs with partners and will locate a credible and professional services provider in area where we do not maintain in house experts.

Employers Association
GCCI provides a comprehensive range of services for Employers. We assist members with labor relations matters, represent members at tripartite negotiations with Government and Trade Unions, prepare personnel policy for members, provide current information on labor issues, produce booklets and organize training on Labor Law and other laws affecting Employers business operations in The Gambia.

Showcase Gambian Business
We assist in the marketing efforts of Gambian Businesses through collection and dissemination of information and support participation in trade fairs, monthly business e-bulletin, and general networking of local and outside businesses. We organize the Biennial National Trade Fair, Trade Fair Gambia (TFG). March Jula is also organized for the MSMEs every year. GCCI also organizes Annual Business Awards Dinner in which we recognize, showcase and reward excellence, create room for competition, and avenues for the business community to network and draw publicity.

Communications and Media Relations
Keep members informed through the monthly e-bulletin, quarterly magazine, Business Directory, Articles in local newspaper, press releases, and conferences air time on local radios and televisions, business for a, workshops and seminars.

Resource and Business Incubation Center
A user-friendly resource center supported by ICT provides specialized business information services to members ranging from information searches to video conferencing. It receives business inquires from overseas about possible joint ventures, distributorship, agency and other forms of commercial partnership with Gambian businesses. The Incubation Center will host and train start-up businesses in the MSME sector, providing shard business facilities, equipment and Business Development Services (BDS).

Certificate of Origin
Facilitate the export of goods originating from The Gambia through the sale, stamping and endorsing of the Certificate of Origin.
